Why did darkness rule

I think they made it so you could choose to be evil in KH: CoM (with the crossroad thing). Though, it WOULD be cool if you had the sons of them fighting. Like Sora's son fights Riku and Riku's son fights Sora, both trying to convert the other one to their side.

Or Riku and sora have been trapped or was locked in kingdom hearts and Soras son and Rikus son fight together to get them out and defeat the ultimate boss.But to do that Sora, Riku,Sons of both fight together with speical moves and stuff.

and and and, you could switch between the two, have different key blades for em, and get like ultimate key blades for em, and then you could use bof of em to over come challenges and puzzles!

Yeah! And Riku's son could have the dark keyblades and Sora's son could have all of the keys of light. Oh! And Kairi's daughter is there!
